The Legacy of Motion

Running order for client walkthrough — sequence, lighting logic, and the chair moment
Thu 1 Oct 2026 Curtain 19:00 Hard stop 21:00 Rev. v4
The Only KPI That Matters Tonight

This evening is not a sale. It's an experience — and if the guest feels at ease, feels impressed, feels genuinely cared for, the sale finds its own way to us afterward. It is never made in this room, tonight, by anyone.

Service. Every gesture tonight serves the guest's comfort — never our pipeline.
Listening. Sally's questions, the Q&A, the private moments — the night is built to hear Alberto and our guests, not to talk at them.
Understanding. The chair, the lighting, the silence — every choice on this page exists to be understood as craft, not pitched as product.
IRON-CLAD, NO EXCEPTIONS: no sales of any kind, no mention of price, no pitch, no soliciting contact information, no "let me tell you about our other pieces," no business card exchange initiated by our side, nothing. Not from Sally, not from Andy, not from a single server or usher, not once, all night. This is not a showroom and nobody in it is working a floor. If a guest asks a direct question about price or availability, the only acceptable answer is a warm redirection with zero ask attached — “That's not a conversation for tonight — tonight is just for looking and being here.” — and then the subject changes. Nobody offers a follow-up, nobody asks for their number, nobody hands them anything. If they truly want to pursue it, that has to come from them, unprompted, days later, through a channel we never opened tonight. This is art. This is an experience. This is curated and premeditated as an experience — not staged, in any way, as a sale.
Our Two Cents

This is the right call, and it's the same instinct that's already shaped the chair moment on this page — nobody describes it, nobody re-sells the scarcity, it's handed down like an heirloom, not launched like a product. Making it iron-clad — no ask of any kind, not even an appointment — is the correct tightening. The moment anyone on the floor is permitted to end an interaction with "let's find time to talk," the whole evening quietly becomes a lead-generation event with a chef and a chair in it. Removing that permission entirely is what actually makes this curation instead of a soft sell: the honest signal to a guest is that nothing tonight was designed to get anything from them, which is the only way the room reads as generous instead of strategic.

The only real risk is enforcement, not intention — a server, an usher, or anyone improvising an answer to "so how much is this?" or "can I get your card?" breaks the whole design in one sentence. Worth briefing the entire floor team on the exact redirection line above, word for word, before doors open, and telling them explicitly: there is no permitted version of asking this guest to do anything after tonight. If someone reaches out on their own next week, that's a win earned by the evening itself — never something engineered inside it.

The Sequence

From curtain to reveal. hard cut marks a beat that starts with zero warning; slow & human marks the one beat we deliberately let breathe.

19:00

Threshold

Sally opens curtain C1 herself; staff opens C2 a beat behind her. The room's lighting cuts hard from the dim ambient wall to bright, clean white the instant her hand touches the fabric.

Zone C1/C2 — Sally, staff
19:01

Sally's opening

~110 words. Straight into the room — no snack break, no warm-up act first. Ends by handing nothing to anyone; it leads directly into the Q&A.

Zone LM1(B) — Sally
19:02

Five questions

Sally seated with Alberto, while guests are still settling in. Leonardo translates where needed. Ends on the fifth answer, unresolved — no summarizing line.

Staff note — the chair question
One of the five questions is open-ended — Alberto could name any Bonaldo piece, including a chair no longer in Bonaldo's current collection. There is no special rebound line to prepare: the segment's own rule already covers it — no follow-ups, ever, on any answer. Sally lets it sit and moves straight to the next question exactly as she would for any other answer. The only instruction for staff: nobody reacts, comments, laughs, or repeats the name back — whatever he names, treat it as a normal, closed answer and carry on.
Zone LM1(B) — Sally, Alberto
19:10

Alain Gilles, on screen hard cut in

45 seconds, recorded. Flows straight out of the last answer — no live intro. Script locked 22 Sep 2026. Alain signs a plaque he can't be in the room to fit, notes that Cross is still one of the younger pieces in Bonaldo's ninety-year history, reads the one sentence Sally asked him for — “Ninety years in motion. Tonight, at rest in Bangkok” — and hands off with “Alberto — your hands, please.” Ends on black, a two-second hold, no applause cued.

Video file not yet delivered
Script is locked — only the finished video file is still pending. Andy is bringing this cut separately — not the YouTube reference link (that plays elsewhere in the sequence, right before Khun In). AV to chase and load before doors.

19:11

The chair slow & human

The one beat in the night with no hard cut. Alberto's been sitting in the Cross chair since before the curtain opened — an ordinary-looking seat nobody's given a second look. The chair spot pulses brighter for one second the instant the video hits black. That's the only announcement. Sally then walks over — to him, not to an empty object. Full script below.

Zone LM1(B) — Sally, Alberto
19:14

The spin hard cut in

A few seconds of true silence after the plaque is fitted — then Andy is simply already spinning ice cream. No lead-in line from anyone. Alberto stays seated in the Cross chair for this course too; the cup is fully edible, so nothing is left behind when he finishes.

Zone IC — Andy
19:24

“Bonaldo 90 years” hard cut in

The instant cup six reaches Alberto's hand — before applause can build — hard cut to black. The film is already running at full volume. No fade, no title card. Nobody sees it coming, including the performers.

Screen — video, 4'02
19:28

Silence beat

2–3 seconds of true silence before the video's final note. In the same instant, the stage manager sends a silent cue to Khun In, waiting unseen in the secret room — he moves into position behind the round curtain.

Secret room → round curtain
19:28:30

The reveal

The round curtain — which has shown an AI-projected figure all night — opens slowly, silhouette first. Khun In is already playing ranad ek inside it. The opera singer descends the spiral staircase and trades phrases with him, resolving into a duet, under three minutes.

Round curtain, staircase — Khun In, singer
19:33

To the table

MC guides the six VIPs to dinner. Pad thai served, takeout boxes passed to the room. Mingling, drinks, and Sally's close carry the night to the 21:00 hard stop.

Table, floor — MC, Andy, all

The Floor Plan

Olivia Showroom, Floor 2 — the actual venue drawing. Tap or click to enlarge.

Olivia Showroom Floor 2 layout plan, annotated with the guest flow: reception and valet at bottom left, the ambient projector wall along the top, the round curtain and spiral staircase at Q&A/1-2, cocktail tables T1-T8, the DJ booth, and the F&B counter at centre.
Valet → reception → the ambient projector wall (the two floor-projector points guests pass on the way in) → the showroom display → the restroom & lift lobby corridor → the round curtain and spiral staircase, where the reveal happens. Cocktail tables T1–T8 and the DJ booth sit in the aisle between reception and the staircase; the pad thai truck is staged at street side, near the base of the staircase.

Non-Negotiables

What holds the whole sequence together, in one line each.

No selling — iron-clad
Nothing is sold, priced, pitched, or offered tonight, by anyone, ever. No one asks for contact information, an appointment, or a follow-up of any kind — never a pitch, never a catalog, never "let me show you what else we have," never "let's find time to talk." This is art, an experience, curated and premeditated as one — not a showroom floor.
Light
Light the person, never the product. Bonaldo furniture stays in clean, steady white all night — mapping and color live only on the walls and the curtain.
Warning
No fades, no dimming-down, no “and now” from anyone. Every transition hits cold — that's what separates this from a produced show reel.
The object
Nobody ever describes the chair out loud — no materials, no dimensions, nothing that reads like a showroom label. It's treated like an heirloom, never a product.
The secret
Khun In is never referred to anywhere a guest could overhear, for the full 58 minutes he waits — the reveal only works if the room never suspects.

The Chair — in Full

19:11 — right after Alain's video, before the ice cream

Alberto's been sitting in the Cross chair since 18:58 — before the curtain even opened. It's his seat all night; nobody's treated it as anything but an ordinary chair. This is the moment that changes.

Stands from the sofa arm, plaque already in hand, and crosses to the chair. Says nothing yet — the video just told the room everything it needs about Alain and the chair; Alberto, who lived it, needs none of it repeated to him.

“I wrote him one sentence. He signed it.”

Holds the plaque up — solid brass, hand-signed by Alain. Reads “Made in Italy. Understood in Bangkok” — designed by Alain Gilles, curated by Sairoong P. — and, in the corner, “No. I of IX · The Series of Years · 2016–2026 · The Synthesis.” Does not read it aloud. Alberto rises from his seat and comes to her — no verbal cue needed, Alain's video already asked for his hands. Sally hands him the plaque. He fits it himself, to the back of the chair — the room watches him do it, not her. Ten seconds. Photograph. Alberto sits back down. Steps back from the chair. Lets the room hold the silence for a beat — no summarizing line, no address, no “number one of nine” speech; that messaging lives in the press release, not in the room. Then, plainly, no jokes at Alberto's expense —

“Andy — please.”

Nobody sits in the chair itself tonight. Sally's cue is what starts the ice cream spin.
Our recommendation

The risk in this beat is structural: “first of nine” is, by nature, a launch announcement — and if it's staged like one, the whole evening reads backward as atmosphere built around a sale. What fixes that: Alberto does the physical work himself — the video has already told the room what it needs to know, so Sally doesn't re-explain anything, she simply crosses the room, hands him the plaque, and lets him fit it to the chair with his own hands. The room watches him claim it, not Sally present it to him. No address, no “number one of nine” speech, no summarizing line — that messaging lives in the press release, not in the room. Handing straight to Andy afterward keeps the silence doing the work instead of a sales pitch.

The address (where Cross Nº 1 will actually live) and the decade/era wording for the plaque engraving are being decided internally, for press purposes — they do not appear anywhere in the spoken script and should not be reintroduced into it.

Needs Your Answer

The address — where Cross Nº 1 will actually live. No longer part of the spoken script (cut 22 Sep — that messaging now lives only in the press release), but the decision itself is still open internally and needed for press materials.

The decade and era for the plaque engraving — Cross Nº 1 is described in the script as representing a decade of Bonaldo's ninety years, but the exact decade/era wording to engrave isn't locked yet.

Press/social wording, locked to the same story — the decade/era and upholstery-curation details go out to press and on the website, Instagram, and TikTok after the event, so the exact language used in Alain's video and on the plaque should match what gets published afterward — worth finalizing decade/era wording with the post-event copy in mind, not just for the room.

Exact video runtimes — Alain's message and the main film. Every hard-cut timing in the sequence depends on these being locked, not estimated.

The secret room — exact location for Khun In, confirmed by a walk-through, with his walking time to the curtain measured on the day.

DJ booth vs. curated playlist — still open from the sound design document; affects staffing and the booth build.
