The Whole Night, In One Minute

Bonaldo turns 90 — ninety years of one family teaching wood, leather and steel how to carry a conversation across generations. We're marking it with one continuous evening, not a party with a program, but a single unbroken story built to let that conversation actually happen in the room.

Guests arrive to a warm room, quiet Italian lounge music, and live projections on the walls. Once everyone's settled, our host welcomes them and sits down with Bonaldo's owner, Alberto — already seated, without knowing it, in the very chair the night is about — for five honest questions about ninety years of his family's craft — no script, real answers. A short video from the chair's designer follows, and then, in complete quiet, our host reveals that the chair he's been sitting in all along is the first of only nine ever made — one for every decade of Bonaldo's ninety years, each dressed in upholstery designed specifically for its decade, curated and produced as a true one-of-a-kind — never available to browse or walk in and buy — chosen first for someone the decade already belongs to, sold to them quietly, never to whoever simply has the money — like a piece of family history being passed down. He stays seated through it all.

From there, Chef Andy hand-spins a dessert built entirely for this moment — a Thai fruit, an Italian nut, and a ten-day fermented finish — and serves it to Alberto himself as a ninety-second tribute to ninety years.

A short film plays. The instant it ends, the room goes completely silent — and out of that silence, a hidden Thai musician is revealed playing behind a curtain, joined moments later by an opera singer walking down a staircase to meet him. It builds into one duet that feels unrehearsed, and that's the emotional peak of the night.

After that, everyone moves to dinner — Chef Andy cooks pad thai in front of the group, takeout boxes go around the room, and the rest of the evening is simply good food, good music, and conversation. Our host closes with a short thank-you, and the room winds down naturally.

Nothing is sold or pitched at any point. This isn't a favor to one man or one brand — it's an evening built to celebrate ninety years of craft, and to let the conversation a well-designed piece starts, between the people who make it and the people who choose to live with it, be the entire point. That conversation is the legacy Bonaldo already has. Tonight simply gives it a room to happen out loud in.
